Outreach Ministries

“....“Which commandment is the first of all?”  Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:28-31.

“As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food." Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." "We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish," they answered. "Bring them here to me," he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass...:” Matthew 14:15 – 21 (NIV)

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)

Purpose of Ministry:
The HIV Ministry is for those individuals who are infected as well as for those who are affected by HIV disease. The ministry also cares for people who are initially uncomfortable in dealing with this inside the church.
Individuals have the option to come and talk with someone on a one on one basis to discuss their concerns. Most people are able to get treatment which in turn enabled them to start dealing with the disease.
Additionally, the ministry links people to get care and treatment at Philadelphia FIGHT. FIGHT offers support groups where people are welcomed to share their experiences without having to fear being exposed.
This ministry is a great opportunity for people to learn more about the disease because knowledge is power! Each year the ministry participates in the AIDS Walk which enables people to be aware of their health and to be a part of a great cause. There is power in numbers. Let’s continue to fight this epidemic!

“Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” Hebrews 13:3 (NIV)

Purpose of Ministry:
The prison ministry's goal is to present the word of God to those who are incarcerated; to encourage them, pray for them and their families and to lead those who are unsaved to Christ. Through the prison ministry we continually express our concern for those who are imprisoned and need the care and compassion of Christians as expressed in Hebrews 13:3.

“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.  When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:35-38 (NIV)
