DEACONESS MINISTRY

"For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own free will, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints--..., but first they gave themselves to the Lord and to us by the will of God."  II Corinthians 8:4–5

Responsibilities:

The Deaconess Ministry is a group of sisters chosen for the ministry of services, as were many women in the early Church, as documented by Paul. Service is provided by assisting the Pastor and Deacons in their efforts to observe Christian ordinances and other services as the Gospel requires. Ministering to the needs of the flock include, but are not limited to: assisting members in preparation for Baptism, preparing the elements of the Lord's Supper, visiting the sick and shut-in, and serving as a guide and resource to other Women in the ministry.

DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY

Matthew 28:19: “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Purpose of Ministry:

The purpose of the Discipleship Ministry is to teach Christian principles that will fulfill the Great Commission, as commanded by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19.  Discipleship Ministry strives to embolden generations to Seek the heart of God and carry out His will; Serve God and one another with humility and Christlike character; Spread the Good News so that the Word of God may be spoken in love and with confidence; and to live according to the Spirit of God.

Mission Statement

The Discipleship Ministry seeks to glorify God by carrying out the mandate of the Great Commission.  By the power of Holy Spirit, we wish to provide a training program where both men and women are empowered to intimately know and boldly follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Men and women are encouraged to discover their spiritual gifts and inspired to use them in living out their discipleship while striving to make more disciples through the Word of God and prayer.

Class Schedule and Registration Information

Discipleship classes begin every January and end with graduation in December.  Classes are held on the third Tuesday of every month from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm by zoom.

MUSIC MINISTRY

“Praise the LORD! How good it is to sing praises to our God; for he is gracious, and a song of praise is fitting.” Psalm 147:1 (NRSV)

Purpose of Ministry:

As singers and musicians we are assigned to usher people into the presence of the Lord in corporate worship, to set an atmosphere that is conducive for the Holy Spirit to reign in the worship experience, encourage and uplift through song, and to prepare the hearts of the people to receive the word of God.

NURSES MINISTRY

“Praise the Lord, O my soul and forget not all his benefits - who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.” Psalm 103 2-3 (KVJ)

Mission: 

To provide comfort and urgent care to parishioners during worship experiences and funerals. Also sponsors annual events that bring health awareness to the community and availability of the nurses’ ministry services to the church.

JUNIOR USHERS

Purpose of Ministry:

These are the youth of the church that assist the congregation during service with a smile during the 4th and 5th Sundays of the month.

KIRKLAND USHERS

“Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” Hebrews: 13:1-2 (KJV)

Purpose of Ministry: 

We consider ourselves as doorkeepers in the house of God and we welcome visitors or anyone who thinks it is necessary to enter our gates.

MALE USHERS

Purpose of Ministry: 

These are the men who are keepers of the door. They assist the congregation to seats, collect monies for the Trustees and assist the Deacons during the 1st Sunday of the month.

WOMEN-IN-WHITE USHERS

“For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalm 84:10 (KVJ)

Purpose of Ministry: 

To serve God and the body of Christ to the best of our ability and to ensure that the needs and comfort of all God’s people are met during the 2nd Sundays of the month.

Mission Statement: 

To be a doorkeeper and to serve God and anyone who walks through the doors of our church home. Always being mindful of our calling, disciplined, alert, and courteous and making sure that everyone feels as comfortable and at home as possible.

PUPPET MINISTRY

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37–39 (NRSV)

Purpose of Ministry: 

The goal of the Puppet Ministry is to help children, ages 2 to 15, to have an understanding of the importance of a relationship with Jesus Christ, and how much He loves them; that they will have a desire to learn more about God and obey His Word growing in faith and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mission Statement: 

Through the use of puppets, real life situations will be dramatized to teach youth (and the young at heart) how to apply God’s wisdom in their lives and develop a closer relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Biblical principles will be applied to real life situations such as:

  • Family (parenting, marriage, divorce, unemployment)
  • Relationships (friendships, dating, sibling rivalry, etc.)
  • Disabilities
  • Love and forgiveness
  • Salvation

J.T. KIRKLAND SCHOLARSHIP MINISTRY

Purpose of Ministry: 

To assist our students in their education.  We want to help educate them physically, mentally and spiritually and financially.  Help to prepare them for the challenges of this world we live in.    Establish in them a desire to reach for higher learning and attainable goals.

COMFORT AND CARE MINISTRY

“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)

Purpose of Ministry: 

To provide comfort and care support to congregation members to help them acquire quality lives and a sense of belonging and well being from the people of God.

Mission Statement: 

The Comfort and Care Ministry (CCM) extends counseling and care giving services to congregation members and their extended and nuclear family members. These services may include bereavement support groups, one to one grief counseling, respite services, home basic services such as food shopping, picking up medications from pharmacies or providing 2 hours respite hours for caregivers of the sick and shut-in.

Media Ministries

These ministries disseminate the word of God utilizing the highest technology available maintaining administrative, technical, fiscal, and spiritual integrity with excellence. This is done through Audio, Video, CD/DVD taping, our newsletter and website.

Our desire is to reach men for the kingdom of God and to restore each man to the fullness and destiny God has for them. We firmly believe this can be accomplished through meaningful relationships with other Christian men, useful practical teaching and discipleship, and outreach.

Empower men through the teaching of the profound Word of God, while building relationships with men of every race, creed and color through brotherly fellowship.

OPEN HANDS HOSPITALITY MINISTRY

Purpose of Ministry: 

The purpose of the Open Hands Ministry is to extend the love of Christ to all guests who enter the doors of The Church of the Redeemer Baptist and make them feel welcomed in such a way that they are transformed from strangers to friends. To strive to greet each person with a warm smile, as well as, welcome and greet them in order to create a positive and warm perception of our congregation and to assist in the process of assimilating guest and members into our church. Mission Statement:

To help women gain a deeper understanding of the Word of God by offering various programs that will enable them to grow spiritually, physically, socially and emotionally whole.  Thus resulting in women growing in their love for God by living lives that honor God.  Finally we are committed to encouraging and equipping women to discover and use their God-given gifts to further the Kingdom of God.

    Purpose of the ministry
    To reach and minister to women of all walks of life. We want to encourage women in their walk with the Lord and meet them where they are. Each month we are blessed to have a presenter that speaks on Godly topics. It is an evening where women can come together, fellowship, and feel comfortable discussing issues pertaining to life as a Christian. Intimate Portraits is designed to reach and minister to women of all walks of life.
